Ephesus Opening Hours 2026 – Complete Visitor Guide

Ephesus Ancient City is open daily year-round. Summer hours (April–October) extend until 21:30; winter hours (November–March) close at 17:00. Plan your visit with our complete opening hours guide for the main site, Terrace Houses, Ephesus Museum, and nearby attractions.

Ephesus Ancient City Opening Hours 2026

Ephesus Archaeological Site is open every day of the year, including public holidays. Opening and closing times vary by season to accommodate daylight and visitor demand.

Main Archaeological Site – Ephesus Ruins

  • April 1 – October 31 (Summer): 08:00 – 21:30
  • November 1 – March 31 (Winter): 08:00 – 17:00

The ticket office typically closes 30–60 minutes before the site's closing time. We recommend arriving early in summer to avoid midday heat and crowds.

Ephesus Terrace Houses (Yamaç Evleri)

The Terrace Houses have slightly different hours and close earlier than the main site:

  • April – October: 08:00 – 18:30
  • November – March: 08:00 – 16:30

Terrace Houses require a separate add-on ticket. Allow 45–60 extra minutes if you plan to visit them.

Ephesus Archaeological Museum (Selçuk)

  • April – October: 08:00 – 21:30
  • November – March: 08:00 – 17:00

The museum in Selçuk town displays artefacts from Ephesus and is well worth a visit.

Basilica of St. John (Selçuk)

  • April – October: 08:00 – 21:30
  • November – March: 08:00 – 17:00

House of Virgin Mary

  • April – October: 08:00 – 17:00
  • November – March: 08:00 – 17:00

Located on Bulbul Mountain, the House of Virgin Mary has its own entrance fee and opening schedule.

Best Time to Visit Ephesus

Early morning (08:00–10:00) is ideal in summer: cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and better light for photography. In winter, midday visits are comfortable. Avoid weekends and public holidays if possible for a quieter experience.

Important Visitor Tips

  • Ticket sales close 30–60 minutes before the site closes – plan accordingly.
  • Wear comfortable shoes – the ancient marble paths can be uneven and slippery.
  • Bring water, sunscreen, and a hat in summer.
  • Consider booking Ephesus tours in advance during peak season (April–October).
  • Turkey Museum Pass is valid for Ephesus and many other sites.
